2016 Schools Aerospace Challenge – Winners Announcement
The top three finalists of the 2016 Schools Aerospace Challenge have been decided. The winning team has been chosen based on the quality and content of their original project submission and individual performances during their attendance at the residential week at Cranfield University. Judges were particularly impressed with the calibre of entries and would like to especially commend the 12 teams who made it through to the Aerospace Engineering Experience Week. It was a tough job to reduce the total list of entries down to 12 and it was even harder to decide on the final three entries going forward. Our finalists will get a chance to present their projects in front of a distinguished audience of experts at the awards ceremony which will take place at the prestigious Institution of Mechanical Engineers, in London on Monday 21 November 2016. In a five minute presentation, each team will describe their approach to the challenge, their design solution and its key discriminating features before the winners are announced. The winners will receive a prize of £3,000 and the two runners-up each receiving a prize of £1,000.
The 2016 Schools Aerospace Challenge finalists are (in alphabetical order):
Team Aerospike (formerly Team Bablake) – Bablake School, Coventry
Team (Red) Dragons – 1054 (Llanelli) Squadron ATC
Team Venture – Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge
The judges would like to give a special commendation to Team Steve’s Angels and Team Swashplate for their efforts and originality.
