The Summer School at Cranfield University
The School of Engineering at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire will host the Schools Aerospace Challenge Summer School. Under the leadership of engineering graduates seconded from industry and RAF personnel, qualifying teams are put through a range of experiences. Classroom work is balanced with practical exercises where students learn to plan strategy, manage resources and achieve an objective. Talks on understanding how both fixed and rotary wing aircraft are designed and operated are complimented by the opportunity to pilot both types.
This year for the first time there will be talks on Spaceflight as well as the specialist clothing and ejector seats that are used by military aircrew.
Students will find the four night stay a unique opportunity to learn more of the engineering side of aerospace and the opportunities it offers.
Dates for 2009 Arrive afternoon Sunday 26 July 2009, depart at 15:00 on Friday 31 July 2009. Joining instructions will be sent by email to all team captains no later than Thursday 25 June 2009, so it is important that team captains inform nicolafox_sac@tiscali.co.uk and johnfarley@tiscali.co.uk if their email address changes from that given in their original registration.
Teams are expected to meet their own travelling expenses to and from Cranfield University. The course and accommodation including full board is provided by the sponsoring companies.
